Embark Covers

We
are pleased to share with you the front cover of the Colossians book coming out
in January 2019. Colossians: Jesus
Christ is Supreme, will be the first book in our new Embark Bible
study series for young adults and teens. This blog will explain the purpose of its
design. Every Embark book will have
three main elements:
1 The Banner and Logo: At the very bottom of every book, the logo will be in a colored banner. This ties every book to the Embark series. The name and logo reminds the reader that they are about to embark on an incredible journey through God's priceless Word.
2. The Main Image: A considerable amount of time went into determining
what kind of image every book in the series should have. We finally decided to use an image that could
be seen on an incredible expedition. Not
only are these scenes magnificent and beautiful, the content of these scenes
are all made by God and reveal God's glory (Rom.1:20 and Ps. 19:1-6). It’s also our desire to give the reader a clue
to the content of the book through the imagery of each scene. Every book of the Bible has a main theological
point, a setting, context, and even a mood. We want the main image to illustrate these
characteristics graphically.
3. The Title and Crest: As majestic as nature is and as much as it
reveals about God (Psalm 19:1-6), we require God's Word - His special
revelation (Psalm 19:7-14) for salvation and godly living. The title obviously shows what book of the
Bible the reader will be studying. The subtitle helps the reader grasp the main
emphasis of the book. One of the
goals of this series is for students to grow in their understanding of biblical
theology. More than having theology
that is biblical, we desire students to know why books of the Bible were
written and what they are all about (biblical theology). We want students to grow in their love of
God's Word and move from well-known verses to larger sections of Scripture. This will not only help readers know and grasp
the central points of Scripture, but it will help them see how each book of the
Bible fits into the great, redemption story of the Bible. Consider Colossians. The mountain is majestic, and the peak of the
mountain is above everything else. This
illustrates the main point of Colossians - Jesus Christ is supreme and reigns
over everything else. In fact, Christ is
so supreme that everything made (even the mountain) consists in Him!
Colossians 1:15-18 "Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence."
