About Embark

This series is designed to help young adults engage in Bible study by taking an in-depth look at books of the Bible in their context.

We passionate believe that this approach will help readers mature spiritually as they meditate on the depth and beauty of the knowledge of God.

More than ever, we are convinced that young people want real answers to difficult questions they face daily.  They do not need or want opinions, they crave answers that solve questions they haven't even considered yet.  The good news is that the Bible does this!

Series Goals

1. To help young adults, grade 10 and up, dig into their Bible and treasure Christ more through His life-altering Word.

2. To model proper Bible study methods so that students are motivated and prepared to dig into Scripture on their own.

3. To see students learn to understand Scripture in context and understand sections (books) of Scripture, not simply various verses.

4. To produce affordable resources for personal study and groups who want to grow in Christ together.

A Guide to Studying the Scripture

Each Embark book consists of around 30 days of Bible study that work systematically through a book of the Bible.  Each daily study is not segmented into "observation,""interpretation," and "response" sections.  Instead, we have put a vast amount of time into modeling these Bible study steps.  This series guides students to walk for themselves through Scripture in a natural and fluid way, learning to observe, interpret, and respond as they go.

Production of Embark Books

Each book is written by one of the pastors at Lifeway Baptist Church.  It was our goal from the very beginning to grow as pastors as we individually spent time with Christ in His Word.  These year long personal studies culminated in a rough draft of material that was then refined by the pastoral staff.

The next step was the local church.  We had no desire to create material just for the sake of it.  With a good draft in hand, we put together a study group that consisted of teens, adults, men, women, experienced teachers, and inexperienced teachers.  This group met for 13 weeks to study and review the material, and what a blessing it was.  Not only did the group grow in Christ, the material was sharpened to be very clear and powerful.  Our first study had 12 members.  Our second study had 24.

After several other editing reviews woven through the above, we were finally ready to format, have a final edit, and print.

It is our belief that the Embark books are exegetically solid, clear to follow, and helpful for anyone who genuinely wants to study Scripture.
